Popcorn and bad parenting

3 year old boy chokes on popcorn at cinema and dies. A sad incident, and a surprisingly rare one too.. those popcorn shells can be nasty!

What surprised me more was that the kid was watching Alien vs Predator, a scary movie with a PG-13 rating. With adults, I'm as libertarian as they come, but some people need their parenthood membership cards taken away for what they do with their kids. A mature 10 year old might be able to stand the gore and surprise, but a 3 year old? Fears are easy to instill at that age, and the kid could have been wetting the bed for weeks after watching that movie.

Funny really, that you can't flash a nipple at the Superbowl without a big upset, but you can subject your toddler to a gory film without any hassle. "Will somebody think of the children!?"

I totally agree, while it is a tragedy the child died, the child should not have been at that movie in the first place. It is totally possible the child had his mouth full of popcorn when he saw a gory image and choked while opening his mouth to scream out. The mother was quoted as calling to the husband to 'take the baby, he's dying, he's choking' well Alien vs Predator is no place for a BABY!
