I love Volvo's new marketing campaign. Remember the campaign they did several months ago when they had a documentary-style advert talking about how everyone in some Swedish village all bought Volvo cars on exactly the same day? They gave out a URL where you could watch the full 'documentary' online.
Enter Roman Coppola. Their new campaign focuses on conversations in cars. The TV ad features a 30 second excerpt from one of these conversations and gives you the URL of the site where you can watch them in full. I went along, and they're pretty good watching. Nothing amazing here, just some interesting (and seemingly unscripted) conversations between some interesting people (city planners, engineers, artists, etc).
I absolutely love conversation. When you have the right two people, or the right group of people, you can have some amazing conversational experiences. I don't get many conversations in cars though, as I tend to drive alone. It does tend to make the time go by quicker though. I once had to drive my grandmother cross country and we talked about nonsense the whole time but it was great.
Anyway, you can watch the videos here (Volvo's.. not my grandmother ;-)) The first interview features the architectural love of my life, the Oresund Bridge.
