Wow, they're playing Twilight, from the mindblowing Time album, by the Electric Light Orchestra on Radio 1. Time is easily the best album of the year I was born. It perfectly captures the sound of a just-departed '70s and the rapidly approaching electronic utopia of the '80s. The songs are mostly about this transition, covering topics as obscure as robot love, the future of news, and buying tickets to go to the moon. It captured the electronic transition more deftly than Gary Numan or Kraftwerk, who were more 'all or nothing' about it. Sadly the Orchestra's Secret Messages, released two years later, failed to build upon the ground that Time broke.
In other news, Telsa's journal seems to be back online after a big down period caused by Alan Cox taking a hatchet to his Web server setup.
