Acer sucks too!


I swear this isn't going to turn into the "X sucks" site, but I'm doing this as a favour for my father, who's been having a complete nightmare with Acer, the computer and notebook company. They took his computer away over a month ago for repairs, and he still hasn't got it back, and doesn't even have a DATE for when he'll get it back. Three weeks ago he was told they'd have the parts "within 10 working days." Today he got yet another mail saying "waiting for parts." Not really good enough, so he has started the Acer Sucks campaign with his story. Uses RSS Digest too, so I have to link it for that reason alone ;-)

I saw your "Acer sucks too" site. You're doing people a great service. Nice one!

I have had similar experiences to yours with Acer's appalling "repair" and "customer services" outfit in Plymouth. I will spare you all the details!

I thought you (and lots of other people!) might find the following two pieces of information useful:

1 HEAD OF ACER UK CALL CENTRE:

the head of the Acer UK call centre is ANDREW PARSONAGE, email , tel. 01752 515515 extension 752, or you can call him directly without going through the switchboard, on 01752 243 752.

He is the biggest liar and bullshitter of them all, and I have been told by three managers at Acer UK that he should be sacked. Goodness knows why this doesn't actually happen! He says whatever comes into his head, to fob people off, and most of what I have heard him say about laptop parts and their availability is a complete lie.

Just to give two examples - he has lied to several people, claiming that "no spare parts are kept onsite". In actual fact, all sorts of different parts are kept onsite.

My advice to anyone who is having their laptop repaired by Acer is don't give up, try to get past the idiots who answer the phone at either customer services or technical support. They are actually trained - and I mean literally trained, by the guy who trains them, namely Andrew Parsonage - to lie about the availability of spare parts.

Whenever you are told parts are only available in Taiwan, it is extremely likely to be a lie.

2) ACER MANAGERS' EMAIL ADDRESSES

The second piece of information is that all the Acer UK managers' email addresses are in the form

Email addresses @esplex.com that "don't exist" will bounce your mail. So if you've heard a manager's name and don't know how to spell it, it is easy to send them an email. Just keep trying variations, and when your email doesn't bounce, it's got through to the right person.
