Well color me impressed, WordPress 1.5 has been released (for a month now) and it's mindblowingly good. More features than anyone else (*cough* Movable Type), easier to configure, open source, very fast, lots of community support/themes/plugins, and great support for making your own URL schemes, etc (via mod_rewrite).
It took all of five minutes to install, and I did some pretty crazy stuff with the templates within an hour (massive changes too) and got it to use the exact URL scheme I wanted! The admin interface is pretty darn sweet too.. and, get this, it has easy built-in support for maintaining a whole bunch of pages on your site too, not just blogs. It's rare I'll hype up someone else's software so much, but Wordpress rules. Simple as that. There's no better blogging software out there. The only way it could be better is if a single install could do multiple blogs out of the box.
Expect PeterCooper.co.uk to move over sometime. It's a big project (as I want to keep the URLs and content EXACTLY the same), but with WordPress it seems like I could do it, given a few hours.
