Woolworths and Sainsburys cave in to religious fanatics

There's quite a story buzzing around the UK blogosphere at the moment.

It concerns the removal of sale of Jerry Springer: The Opera from Woolworths' and Sainsburys' stores, after receiving a mere handful of complaints. Many are blaming Christian Voice, a British sect of Christian fanatics, whose views cover the glorious gamut of extremist views again homosexuals, women, and so forth.

In any case, bloggers have been writing to Woolworths and Sainsburys, and have received pitiful responses explaining how "their customers" don't want the product to be stocked at the stores. Sainsbury admitted that they received only ten complaints, which is making people wonder.. are British corporations, whose responsibility should be to their share holders and entire customer base, caving in to pressure from fanatical religious groups? If this is to be the case, will they attempt to get these extremely offensive films banned from our nation's stores?

Interesting how 'The Piano' is extremely offensive, but South Park: The Movie, is not.
