You might think that people using FeedDigest because other services suck is a good thing for FeedDigest. I'm not so sure.
Take what Stowe Boyd just wrote. He's using a new to-do list system which he loves to bits, but which lacks "a neato-keeno javascript to let me directly post a public to-do list on my blog, so if I want to do that I have to resort to an RSS-to-javascript gasket like Feeddigest." FeedDigest is a 'resort'. This is true in many cases. A lot of users only use FeedDigest because their existing tools are lacking.
Here's a prominent example. We have a lot of TypePad users who use FeedDigest to syndicate feeds into the sidebars of their blogs. This is because TypePad had no system to dynamically include RSS feeds into their sites. Now they do, and so less TypePad users need to rely on us. We provide more powerful features, but not everyone needs those. Again, this means people only use FeedDigest because the services they really want to use are lacking good syndication options. This is not good.
It's only a matter of time before other services have "to JavaScript" features by standard, and FeedDigest's main use becomes obsolete. We're busy working out how to redefine our services so that instead of being a bandaid used to fix temproary problems, or a 'resort', we become an important and respected part in what people want to do.
