This country's going nuts, I'm sure of it. The Metropolitan Police have started a poster campaign to alert everyone of the danger of terrorism. Furthermore, they encourage anyone to immediately call 999 as soon as they're "suspicious" of anyone for any reason. Considering we can barely deal with the existing level of 999 calls, asking people to call 999 whenever they see "suspicious" activity is idiocy.
As someone who's had the police dispatched on their ass for being considered "suspicious" (for the suspicious activity of waiting for a friend in my car while lying back listening to the radio), I think the 999 service is going to have to triage a whole ton of nonsense from goody-two-shoes callers from this stupid campaign. Let's remember this when we're trying to call 999 about a real emergency.
And if you're not considered suspicious, perhaps you might be tagged by the police for failing to pay child support, or have your every movement tracked by CCTV in 2006.

Happy new year. That was a nice post there. Terrorism, the war on terror etc. leave very strong feelings.
Your blog made me think of the Indian context and "..Gudia, a Muslim girl and Shri Ramdev ji, a Hindu male...".
I feel Terrorim need not be overt. It could be covert too. . My blog below is on how the society defines the "weak" and who becomes the underdog !
