Channel 9 always keeps me interested in Microsoft, at least a little bit. Don't get me wrong.. I don't tend to use Microsoft technology, and I think a lot of their methodology is bad, but they've produced some cool stuff and they have a lot of great minds working there. Channel 9 is a great 'back door' view into those great minds where the people at Microsoft talk candidly about what they're working on and how it all comes together. For example, this interview about their 'research' OS, Singularity.
So Channel 9 got me thinking.. why don't more tech people put out similar videos? Why don't we get to see regular interviews and webcasts with the great minds at Google or Apple, say? Can it really be that Microsoft is more open than those guys? Actually, yes.
All that said, I'm going to see if I can come up with a video (or videos) going over some of the stuff I work on. None of it's as exciting as what they get up to in Silicon Valley, but if it inspires anyone who's really interesting to follow suit, it'll be worth it. So let's get recording, talking about how our tech works, talking about what we're working on, and making it all seem more real.
Cool! Would love to see some chatty videos.
