The Rough Underbelly of Web 2.0 Journal

A lot of people in the industry have been linking to, and talking about, Web 2.0 Journal. It's a publication talking about the whole Web 2.0 thing.

My first impressions are that they've really missed the mark. The site is clumsily stuck back in Web 1.0. It's poorly designed and laid out, and the front page even lacks a <title>. The writing isn't bad, so the content guys get the thumbs up, but the site is just hideously spoof-like.

Video ads with forced sound, no TITLE tag, extremely wide pages, no Web 2.0 features at all, and intrusive floating DIV ads? This lets down good content to the extreme. It seems rather on par with a magazine about the latest technology being produced with a typewriter and photocopier. Get real guys!

That site is so cluttered it's ridiculous.

Any self-respecting Web 2.0 publication would have at least three periods in their URL! C'mon, guys, you can do better than that!

Here are a few suggestions:

web2.0journal.com

web2.0journ.al

web2.0j.orn.al
