The AA have a pretty good route finder. It's not 'gee-whiz' and the AJAX drag around map isn't really that great, but in terms of printable, readable instructions it's the most verbose I've seen. It tells you what petrol stations there are, and so forth. Very cool if you need to print instructions for the car!
