Nanny state to the extreme

Listening to the radio yesterday, conversation was dominated by a bill designed to reduce bath temperatures. I never cease to be amazed by the sort of trivia our government would rather be thinking about than matters that actually count (yob culture, war, the gas crisis). I check the temperature of the bath before I get in. Is that a weird thing to do? The 'it's all about the children' argument doesn't wash either, since that's what the parent/guardian's job is. Perhaps if they pass this bill, they can look at making sure electric kettles can't actually boil water?
