How Ruby looks (for developers)

Rubyprimer-2

I came across this really cool resource today. It's a PDF full of simple Ruby code examples, and would make a great primer for a developer used to any other language. You get to see what makes Ruby tick up-front and without a ton of reading. Click here to check it out (PDF).

Ruby badly needs a php.net style site, where Ruby coders are free to add their own hacks and examples.

The comments in php.net are a mine of information - i learned most of my php by reading them.

I agree. I'm no PHP fan, but the documentation and the structure of php.net is first class. The Ruby and Rails sections on http://www.bigbold.com/snippets/ are okay, but not quite the same.

Perhaps I'll look into the licence of the Ruby docs and see if it's possible to rig something up.
