RailsTeam.com & RailsTeam.co.uk

I bought these domains a year ago with the ambition of creating a group of Rails developers here in the UK and promoting the site to get work enquiries which the 'members' could then cherrypick from. It was just a way to have a centrally promotable "We build Rails applications" site for the benefit of the members. Turns out I had way too much to do, however, and it never came to see the light of day.

Now that the .com is expiring (though the .co.uk has another year to go), I'm wondering if a) I should resurrect this idea, or b) what else I could do with the names, or c) should I just let them die?

It's a great idea Peter but like you stated, it's just a question of time getting the thing up and running.

How much do you want for RailsTeam.com? :-)

I vote on letting the .com go, and whacking together a quick Rails app that just lists Rails developers in the UK, and the applications they've done with Rails...with a simple contact form or comments bit?

I wasn't really planning on selling it, but if no other ideas come up, I'd probably sell it for whatever the renewal costs (or to highest bidder!) :)

I am also in favour of setting up some kind of "meeting place" for Rails developers in the UK. I also bought a couple of domains with this in mind, though I haven't done anything much with them yet: http://railsuk.org/ and http://railswm.org/ (the latter for Rails West Midlands). Both currently point to a spartan website and nascent (empty) mailing list. I do intend to do something eventually, but stuff keeps cropping up... I'm sure there are lots of UK developers (I know half a dozen personally, for example), but there's no "nexus" for Rails in this country. Perhaps there's scope for spreading the load among several volunteers? (P.S I would be willing to sell the domains, but only if I can retire on the proceeds :).)
