Californian hipster Beck's new album, The Information, is out. I can take or leave Beck most of the time but when I found out he'd made a video for every track and that they came with the album (along with a packet of Beck related stickers) I asked Laura to pick it up from town and.. we have the CD only version with no videos.
There's nothing on the case to indicate it's a CD-only version and it even has a "Special Edition" sticker on it. It's also the only type they had at the store. So, basically, there's no way to tell if you're getting the CD version or the DVD version at a glance. o indication on the case at all. I thought it might have been a DualDisc (CD one side, DVD the other) but it's not.
This is a pretty dumb packaging decision on Universal's part and forces me to go and download a rip-off copy from BitTorrent or something so I can get the videos I should have got with it. Thing is, if Universal are monitoring the downloads, they might tag me as a pirate, but I'm not. I'm just getting something I paid for and which is meant to come with the album anyway. Buyer beware.
